Freedom is a Tokyo-based guitar workshop that has garnered overwhelming support from professional musicians in Japan and has recently begun to make a name for itself overseas.
Originally acclaimed for its repair work, the workshop now focuses on manufacturing. Their work is beloved by many musicians for its high quality and rational design sense.
All of the brand's basses are manufactured in Tokyo.
Strict quality control is applied to carefully selected wood, and any wood that does not meet the standards is not used in their products.
It is precisely because they are a small workshop that this level of quality control is possible.
In this sense, too, their basses are fundamentally different from those made in large factories.
This model is a modern bass crafted by Freedom, a company with deep knowledge of vintage guitars.
The body top is a figured maple and wenge laminate.
The body back is a combination of wenge and mahogany.
The body color is Yuyake Bancho.
The extremely exotic and luxurious look is truly captivating.
The neck is a 3-ply laminate of maple and wenge, and the fingerboard is Indian rosewood.
The method of creating the neck by gluing multiple pieces of wood together minimizes left-right and individual differences and achieves greater stability.
The preamp has a nuanced push, giving it a nice active feel.
The acoustic part is smart, so this aspect is particularly comfortable.
Despite its wide range, the sound is soft and maintains clear intonation.
The excellent balance when held will not feel strange to players familiar with Fenders, and will feel right at home, as if they've owned the instrument for years.
Approximately 70% of the frets remain.
The truss rod is stiff, but has been confirmed to move about 90 degrees.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and finish show scattered scratches and dents. There are scratches on the pickup cover that appear to have been caused by picking.
The electrical system is in good condition.
No obvious modifications were found.
