Description & Condition
Burns is a brand born in England in the 1960s.
It is known for being used by Jimmy Page, Brian May, and others.
This is a Baby Bison Bass that seems to have been manufactured around 1965-1966.
The body is Sycamore, the neck is Maple, and the fingerboard is Rosewood.
One of the distinctive controls is the neck PU Density Tone.
This is also called Presence Tone and is like a preset tone for the neck PU only. When it is turned down, the high frequencies are shaved off and a round tone is produced.
It looks like a Bizarre, but it is also pretty in sound.
There are approximately 60% frets remaining.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition. Also, there is some fret lift on the high frets. It can be adjusted at 2.0~2.5mm on the 12th fret and can be played without any problem.
The body and painted surface have some scratches and dents. Paint cracks can be seen. The control plate shows shrinkage. There is a 400mm ding on the side of the body, including a gouge in the wood. The brim of the tone knob has been removed.
One condenser of the neck PU density tone was broken and has been replaced by a compatible one at GIB. It has been refretted. We could not determine if the nut has been replaced.
There is a crack in the wood near the 0th fret, and slight bumps on the fingerboard and binding, and on the binding and neck. Currently, there is no problem for normal playing.
