Description & Condition
Capurso Guitars is a high-brand, Italian-based manufacturer of handmade, high-quality basses.
Known and trusted by many musicians such as Gabriele Costa and Giacomo Turra.
The instruments created by builder Andrea Capurso are traditional, experimental and musical in common.
A shining concept is given shape in the form of an instrument with solid skills.
This model is the Georgius, with a beautiful single-cut body.
The body back is made of Ash with a thin Rosewood board in between and the top is made of Burl Poplar.
It is finished in a unique see-through colour, giving it a beautiful look.
The paint is lacquer.
Neck is 5-ply Rosewood and Ash.
The fingerboard is made of smooth Rosewood.
Weighing 3.910 kg, it is very lightweight, but this is due to the fact that it is not chambered, but simply made from good quality wood.
They use Ash for the necks on many of their models, but their taste is head and shoulders above the rest.
If you have never experienced an Ash neck, I urge you to try a Capurso neck.
You will be surprised.
The pickups are Italian MAMA Pickups dual coil type.
The string vibrations are already designed to be well balanced in the acoustic part, and the PU just outputs clear.
It is a really beautiful design.
The pre-amp is an Italian Xander Electronics 3-band EQ.
The bridge is a Hipshot Style B Alumi and the pegs are Ultralite, also from Hipshot.
The sound is robust, wide-range and smooth.
It has a characteristic attack feeling where you can see the beginning of the sound, and is a must-try for bassists who specialise in fast passages.
European brands are gradually adopting North American nuances, which could be described as commoditisation.
Capurso, however, does not follow such a trend, but rather takes its own unique route.
Capurso has created a neat balance between the two, and is highly regarded worldwide in the contemporary music scene.
Try it out for yourself. Recommendation.
