Description & Condition
Sago is a handmade guitar brand based in Hyogo Prefecture, specializing in fully custom-made guitars that fulfill all customer requests.
They also create regular models (though most are one-offs) utilizing the knowledge and skills cultivated over many years, and these are highly regarded.
The brand enjoys strong trust from musicians, with Tabuchi-san of UNISON SQUARE GARDEN, RIO-san of Mary's Blood, and Kusakari-san of Sakanaction being among the Sago artists.
This particular model is the Ove, an original model supported by many artists.
This guitar was ordered through GIB and has now returned as a used item.
The body is made of alder.
The coloring is a chic wrap finish, and the result is elegant, beautiful, and superb.
The wrap finish is understated, which is great.
A noteworthy feature is the use of carbon fiber in the neck.
They say they've balanced it to prevent it from becoming too stiff, and in terms of sound, you can really feel the organic nuances.
While necks with excessive strength can sometimes have a strong, inorganic sound, which can negatively impact the tone, this model doesn't exhibit that characteristic.
The tuning machines are HIPSHOT Ultralite, and the bridge is a HIPSHOT Style B.
The pickups are Lx BSP.
These pickups utilize the increasingly popular split-coil PP layout, adapted for the JB pickup position.
In fact, Bartolini pickups like the MTD often employ a split-coil design.
A noteworthy point is that even when used alone, they deliver a noiseless, full sound.
The neck pickup produces a truly PB-like open and fat sound, and the bridge pickup also has thickness, possessing enough strength to stand out in an ensemble.
Yet, when mixed, it delivers a crisp sound with scooped mids, making its high reputation understandable.
Controls include volume (push/pull - active/passive), balancer, treble, and bass.
Because it provides sufficient low-end and fullness even in passive mode, it's possible to create a sound primarily based on passive tones.
Therefore, the EQ functions effectively in both boosting and cutting directions.
In fact, there aren't many basses with this kind of responsiveness.
A well-balanced instrument, typical of Sago's superior design in every aspect.
Highly recommended.
Fret life is approximately 90%.
The truss rod is in good condition.

No obvious modifications were observed.
