Rickenbacker is one of the most traditional guitar brands, enjoying enduring support from many musicians.
This model is the historic 4001, considered a legendary instrument.
The 4001 is an upgraded version of the company's first model, the 4000, featuring added pickups. It is the predecessor to the current flagship model, the 4003.
Many legendary musicians, including Paul McCartney (The Beatles), Chris Squire (Yes), and Cliff Burton (Metallica), favored the 4001, taking the world by storm.
Perhaps influenced by its design—a maple through-neck and maple wing material—it delivers a characteristically tight, punchy low end.
Yet it avoids excessive darkness, offering a slight compression feel and open nuance—a major appeal of the Rickenbacker 4001.
Fully meeting the essential requirements for a bass, this instrument excels across genres: heavy ensembles, pop, R&B, and beyond.
Some pot dates are partially obscured by solder, but the following markings are visible: “●●● -7330”, “137-733●”, ‘1377330’, and “137-73●●”.
Based on a comprehensive evaluation of these, the approximate year has been determined.
