HEX Guitars is a brand based in South Korea that specializes in products in the entry-level to mid-range price range.
The company has its own factory in Indonesia, where the president himself lives and conducts high-level quality control.
The president is so passionate about the business that he personally visits the factory rather than leaving it to other companies, which is why the guitars are manufactured to such a high standard of quality that it is hard to believe given the price.
The NB505 is the base model of the newly launched “NEXT SERIES.”
It features modern and advanced specifications such as fretless frets and an active circuit.
The sleek body shape is made from mahogany.
The neck features a laminated design combining maple and walnut.
By layering multiple types of wood to form the neck, lateral imbalance is minimized, resulting in high stability and durability.
The fingerboard is made of walnut, with a 12-inch radius for a flat feel.
The neck shape is relatively slim, with a C-shaped profile.
The frets are made of stainless steel.
Stainless steel is characterized by its lack of tarnish and high hardness.
Stainless steel frets maintain their luster and are extremely resistant to wear, making them popular.
They are also used in high-end guitar brands such as Suhr Guitars.
The pickups are original single-coil designs.
They use original pickups in many models.
This is not for cost-cutting purposes but because they have confidence in the quality of their own designs.
Staff members who understand music and play it regularly have thoroughly researched and designed elements such as magnets, wire, and bobbins.
It features an original preamp, enabling flexible sound shaping with a 3-band EQ.
The EQ frequency bands are practical: Bass 50Hz, Middle 1kHz, Treble 6kHz.
The controls include volume (with a push-pull switch to toggle between active and passive modes), balancer, BASS, MIDDLE, and TREBLE. (The preamp gain can be adjusted from the back panel.)
The balance when held is excellent, and even someone accustomed to playing a Fender would likely find the HEX NB easy to play.
It has a clean, headless-style sound, yet it doesn't sacrifice musical overtones or rich bass.
The basic quality of the neck area is very high, making it highly playable, and it's difficult to say it's inferior to instruments in the 200,000 yen range.
Overall, it's an excellent product with high-quality looks, playability, and sound.
While it may be avoided due to its headless design, I highly recommend trying it out in person.
You might be surprised by its high quality.

CASE: Deluxe GigbagAs an aside, I met them at Sound Messe in Osaka in 2024.
At first, I misheard the price as 6,000 USD and put the deal on hold, thinking, “The quality is high, but so is the price.”
However, I later realized that I had misheard and that the actual price was 600 USD, so I contacted them immediately. It made sense that something I thought was reasonable at 6,000 USD was actually 600 USD.
A few days later, we held another meeting in Seoul and agreed that GIB and TONIQ would handle the distribution of HEX in the Japanese market.
Since then, we have held frequent meetings with them and finally reached the point of launching sales.
Detailed explanatory videos are available on YouTube, so please take a look.
Please look forward to it.
