Description & Condition
"Freedom Custom Guitar Research is a Japanese brand with a workshop located in Arakawa Ward, Tokyo.
Founded in 1998 by Makoto Fukano, the company handles everything from sourcing the wood to completion in its own workshop in downtown Tokyo. They are known for their meticulous craftsmanship, combining precision machine work with skilled handiwork.
They also handle custom orders, repairs, and refinishing, and their high level of technical skill is highly regarded by many professional musicians.
This particular instrument is a Retro Series PB 4-string.
The Retro Series is a ""respect model"" born from the pursuit of vintage sound, following the traditional styles of JB and PB guitars.
The color is 3TS (3 Tone Sunburst).
With a tortoiseshell pickguard and rosewood fingerboard, it boasts a classic vintage PB look.
The body is Thermo Alder, the neck is Maple, and the fingerboard is Rosewood.
Thermo Alder is a heat-treated alder wood, a material said to have improved stability and resonance by removing moisture from the wood.
The pickup is an original split-coil type.
The controls are a simple passive configuration with one volume and one tone.
It features a well-balanced midrange characteristic of an alder body and a thick, core sound typical of a PB.
The nut width is 42.2mm, a standard setting for a PB.
With its meticulous craftsmanship typical of a Japanese workshop, this is a recommended instrument for those who want to enjoy a traditional PB.
