Bacchus is a Japanese brand based in Nagano.

It is a brand under Deviser, which operates the large-scale Asuka factory. The high level of quality achieved through in-house production has earned the brand recognition from many musicians.

This model is the signature bass of Korean bassist H. J. FREAKS.

It is part of the Japan Tune-up series, a lineup newly developed with a focus on achieving a high level of quality.

The Japan Tune-up series adopts a production method in which the instruments are manufactured overseas, while final work such as nut adjustment, fret leveling, and fret edge treatment is carried out in Japan.

This approach keeps the price reasonable while aiming to achieve a level of quality that is comparable to top-quality Japanese-made instruments in every respect.

I have actually had the opportunity to see the work being done at Deviser's workshop in Nagano, and the meticulous attention given to each individual instrument is no different from that of the top-of-the-line HANDMADE series.

The instrument itself is manufactured in Indonesia.

Indonesia is widely regarded as one of the world's most highly regarded guitar-manufacturing countries, with many top guitar brands entrusting their production to factories there, including Yamaha and CORT.

Bacchus has particularly strong quality control when it comes to its Asian production.

Musicians living in Japan, where this brand is readily available, are fortunate to have such instruments within easy reach.

As for the basic design of this model, it is based on the JB concept while offering an extended range with 24 frets.

While retaining the traditional body shape, it incorporates a more modern approach while maintaining excellent playability in the higher positions.

Roasted Maple is used for both the neck and fingerboard.

It is also known as Thermowood.

Thermowood was originally developed in Finland as a material for sauna construction, and Sago in Japan later put it to practical use in musical instruments.

Thermowood is valued for its resistance to high temperatures and humidity, and its usefulness as a tonewood is also evident from its adoption by leading manufacturers such as Sadowsky and Suhr.

It is said that a certain amount of Thermowood is discarded during the processing stage.

Presumably, pieces that are considered more likely to develop warping in the future are also screened out at this stage.

Tonally, it has a notably seasoned and mature character.

The body is made of Alder.

It is equipped with original pickups and a proprietary preamp.

The controls are comprehensive, featuring volume/tone, balancer, treble, middle, bass, a mute switch, and a preamp bypass switch.

The top-mounted jack is also an important detail, reflecting the attention to detail of H. J. FREAKS, who is also an active and serious musician.

The frets have approximately 85% of their original height remaining.

The truss rod is in good condition.

The neck is in good condition.

Body condition: There are scattered dents and scratches, so please examine the photos carefully. There is an area on the 5th-fret inlay that looks as though it may have been corrected or repaired, but this has been present since the instrument was new. Since the instrument was inspected by the manufacturer, it appears that the manufacturer determined that it was acceptable to sell the instrument as new in this condition.

Electronics: Good condition.

No obvious modifications were found.
