AV Basses is a high-end Czech brand that gained a lot of attention when Jamiroquai bassist Paul Turner started using it.
The brand was started in the 1990s by professional bassist Ales Vychodil.
At the time, the major instrument manufacturers supplied the market with numerous basses, but none of them met his requirements.
To satisfy his own needs, he started building custom basses with his own hands.
In the 2000s, he started OEM production for boutique brands in Europe and the USA, making his manufacturing skills known to the world.
We met him at Guitar Summit in Germany in 2019 and have placed several ongoing orders with him, providing us with consistent quality.
This is a 6-string fretless bass.
The body top and back are made of Flamed Maple and the core is made of Europian poplar.
The neck is Maple/Wenge laminate and the fingerboard is African ebony.
As you can see, it is finished with a very thick hollowbody, which gives it an attractive acoustic sound with lots of air.
The PU is a combination of a Nordstrand Dualcoil 6 and piezo pickup.
The pre-amp is original.
This combination is very nice and allows you to freely mix the powerfulness of an electric bass with an acoustic sound as if it were a wood bass.
Despite its original look, it has a warm tone that many people find pleasant.

The truss rod adjustment groove is narrow and difficult to adjust, but it is currently in good working order.
The condition of the neck has a twist on the first string side with a tendency towards forward warp, but it is currently playable without problems at 1.8-2.8 mm (on the 12F), which is our standard.
The condition of the body and painted surface can be said to be beautiful, with no noticeable scratches.
The electrical system is in good condition.
No clear modifications were found.
