Practically developed for musical instruments by the Japanese company Sago, thermowood was originally used in Finland as a sauna construction material. Pursued for its resistance to high temperatures and humidity, thermowood's usefulness for musical instruments is evident from its use by top manufacturers such as Sadowsky and Suhr. A certain amount of thermowood is apparently discarded during the processing process. Presumably, even those that will eventually warp will be played here. The sound exudes a rich, refined nuance. The fingerboard is also made of roasted maple. Unlike the neck, it has a gloss finish. The edges are nicely rounded to improve playability. Most players will have a positive reaction to this specification. The body is made of alder, a very classic style of wood. The straight, clear, fat sound is truly the OPB character.
