Description & Condition
Sus bass is a Korean bass brand created by former professional musician Jin Su Lee.
His works that touch the heartstrings of musicians are popular mainly in Korea, and are used by Yeonjun Lee, known for his sessions with SUGA (BTS) and TXT, and Yohan Kim, known for his sessions with ITZY and others. (titles omitted).
I have been in contact with Jin Su, Yeonjun, and Yohan myself, and we had many discussions about a new project with Sus bass before we decided to start this deal.
As this was our first order from Japan, we ordered two classic JB style 5-strings (one of which will be in stock soon). (One of them sold out the same day it arrived, so I'm sorry I can't show you the rest.)
We ordered them with classic specs: Alder body and Rose fretboard.
The neck is flame maple with a loin-stud.
Bridge and tuning keys are HIPSHOT.
PU is a custom model ordered from Lundgren in Sweden.
This PU is used by a bass brand called Stenback, which is quite maniacal, but the high quality of the PU is certainly highly evaluated.
Since it is custom made for Sus bass, it is a natural match.
The 3-band EQ preamp is his original, and it has a relatively natural impression rather than forcibly expanding the Q to enhance the loudness of the effect.
It was created based on feedback from musicians using it on recordings and on stage, and in this sense, its practicality is strongly felt.
Rather than a weak effect, it seems to me that the bassist has successfully added the middle that he/she wants to cut and the bass and treble that he/she wants to increase.
It is not as flashy as Darkglass or Sadowsky, but it fits well with the characteristics of the acoustic part of the bass itself, and I feel it is not too much or too little.
It may be a bit to the taste of an expert.
Controls are neck PU volume, bridge PU volume (push-pull switch for preamp bypass), passive tone (push-pull switch for tone select), middle, and treble/bass.
The tone select switch is a bit unique regarding passive tone.
By selecting the capacitor used in the filter circuit, you can change the way the tone works and its overall character.
This technique has been used by De Gier and others, and its effectiveness has been proven by many musicians.
As for the sound and playing comfort, it is basically like a slightly modern 5-string JB.
There is no impression that it is forcibly close to Fender.
The flow from the low B string to the G string is smooth, very well balanced, and easy to play.
The good balance of sound, smoothness, and ease of playability throughout the fretboard are the charm of this guitar.
Personally, I feel the same way about the Alleva Coppolo.
It is more balanced than the Fender, and has more tenacity than the Sadowsky.
In fact, in Korea, the Alleva Coppolo has been described as feeling somewhere between the Alleva Coppolo and the Sadowsky.
It is a great guitar that shows Jinsu's personality.
Please try it at the store.
