Sire rose to fame as a brand releasing bass guitars overseen by Marcus Miller.

The quality of the guitars and basses they produce is exceptional, and they're highly sought after even by non-Marcus fans.

This is their new product, the Z3-4.

As you can see, this model is based on the Musicman Stingray.

The neck has a lovely, old-fashioned feel to it.

The body is made of mahogany.

High-quality mahogany is widely available in Indonesia, so that's likely why they chose it.

In fact, Musicman doesn't seem to care much about body materials beyond appearance, so they may not place much importance on their impact on the sound. (This is my personal opinion.)

For this type of design, the performance and placement of the pickups, as well as the preamp, are extremely important factors.

Sire uses their own original designs for both.

In particular, they didn't reuse the preamp from the original JB; instead, they developed a special preamp called the HERITAGE-3.

Controls include volume, treble, middle, and bass.
Pulling up the bass knob bypasses the preamp and allows the guitar to operate passively.

The Musicman Stingray doesn't originally have a passive option, so many people will see this as a positive.

The finish of the fingerboard and frets is excellent.

Unsurprisingly for this price range, it's finished to a high quality that rivals even higher-priced models.

The nut width is 42mm, which is a little thicker, following the style of the Musicman Stingray.

The sound is just as expected, with a crisp, strong high range and tight low range.

Until now, there weren't many options for this type of guitar, but I feel like a great replica has finally arrived. I recommend it.
