Sire rose to fame as a brand releasing bass guitars overseen by Marcus Miller.
The quality of the guitars and basses they produce is exceptional, and they're highly sought-after even by non-Marcus fans.
As you can see, this model is based on the original Precision Bass.
Its simple style, featuring a passive circuit, really highlights the high quality of the Sire.
The neck is made of roasted maple with a satin finish.
This is also known as thermowood.
Practically developed for musical instruments by the Japanese company Sago, thermowood was originally used in Finland as a sauna construction material.
Pursued for its resistance to high temperatures and humidity, thermowood's usefulness for musical instruments is evident from its use by top manufacturers such as Sadowsky and Suhr.
A certain amount of thermowood is apparently discarded during the processing process.
Presumably, even those that will eventually warp will be played here.
The sound exudes a rich, refined nuance.
The fingerboard is also made of roasted maple.
Unlike the neck, it has a gloss finish.
The edges are nicely rounded to improve playability.
Most players will have a positive reaction to this specification.
The body is made of alder, a very classic style of wood.
The straight, clear, fat sound is truly the OPB character.
There aren't many basses in the OPB style, but this one is definitely one to recommend.
