Seed is the entry-level brand created by Kansai-based handmade guitar brand Sago New Material Guitars.
Sago is a handmade guitar brand based in Hyogo Prefecture that enjoys strong trust from musicians.
Artists like Mr. Tabuchi of UNISON SQUARE GARDEN, RIO of Mary's Blood, and Mr. Kusakari of Sakanaction are listed as Sago artists.
This model is the signature model of MINA, the bassist active with East Of Eden.
The body uses a 2-piece alder construction.
The body shape is a custom 4-string version based on the standard 5-6 string Sago Defi.
The distinctive paintwork on the body is based on MINA's hand-drawn illustrations.
The neck and fingerboard are maple.
It features a 24-fret specification for a wide playing range.
This specification truly reflects MINA's playing style, characterized by melodic lines and tapping.
The pickup layout adopts a PJ configuration.
Controls are simple: 1 Volume + Balancer + 1 Tone.
The neck and bridge pickups can be switched to series wiring.
The Sago brand model used by MINA herself features Volume + Balancer + Treble + Bass + Mini SW (Active/Passive).
However, MINA primarily uses it passive. She reportedly utilizes the active/passive switch as a de facto mute switch when the active circuit's battery dies.
Aligning with this usage style, the Seed version omits the active circuit and reconfigures the vacant switch's function.
The result is a control setup that keeps costs down while offering practical expandability.
This allows for tone shaping with character unattainable on the original.
Converting the pickup series wiring to a mute switch brings it closer to MINA's original specs.
