Description & Condition
| Sadowsky is a high-end New York brand whose clientele includes top musicians such as Marcus Miller and Will Lee. Until now, Metroline guitars have been manufactured in Japan, but production has now moved to the Warwick factory in Germany. When Roger Sadowsky visited GIB Yokohama, we had a long talk about manufacturing at Warwick. When he was looking for a factory, his goal was to produce a large number of guitars and basses without compromising quality. He said it was difficult to find a factory that met his needs. He also told us that he is very satisfied with the manufacturing at Warwick. The Japanese-made Metroline models were originally highly acclaimed, so there were some concerns about quality, but seeing the actual products seems to indicate there is no need to worry too much. The Japanese-made Metroline also incorporates many unique designs. However, the Warwick-made Metroline has specs that are quite similar to the NYC models and is built based on Roger's input. For example, the body is chambered, just like the NYC, and the bridge is all made of brass. These differences between the old and new Metroline models do exist, but it seems the new one has been received relatively positively. In addition, all Warwick-made Sadowskys imported to Japan pass Yamano Music's strict inspection. Yamano Music, which imports and sells Fender and Gibson and has built them into strong brands, also carries the quality control, so it's all the more fair to say that the Metroline models sold in Japan are of truly excellent quality. This model is a modern model with 24 frets and a wide range. While the soap bar version is popular, this one, which retains more of the JB feel, is also popular. The body is chambered and extremely lightweight. When I asked Roger about the benefits of chambering, he said that musicians prefer the light weight, and that the easy touch and feel of playing are also positive. The hum-canceling pickups, highly regarded by many musicians, and the powerful preamp output a powerful sound even with low string height. All in all, this is a product with great potential. As an aside, I asked Roger why the 24-fret MS model uses soap bar pickups. He explained that the reason the 24-fret model uses soap bars is because ensuring sufficient distance between the neck pickups and the fingerboard makes the sound tighter, so using warmer pickups achieves a balance. However, despite being the same 24-fret model, the VJ's pickup position is the same as that of the JB, and therefore the type of pickup itself is also the same. Both the VJ and MS have great designs, so be sure to compare them and choose the one that's right for you.
