펜사 커스텀 기타는 펜사의 유명 매장인 루디스(Rudy's)의 프라이빗 브랜드로 알려져 있습니다.
Pensa Suhr Custom이라는 브랜드였어요.
루디스는 수많은 유명 빌더를 배출했으며, 존 수어(John Suhr), 스티븐 마르키오네(Stephen Marchione), 마스 히노(Mas Hino), 지미 코폴로(Jimmy Coppolo)가 루디스에서 일했습니다.
네이선 이스트(Nathan East), 리차드 보나(Richard Bona), 빅터 베일리(Victor Bailey), 존 메이어(John Mayer)는 루디의 고객으로 알려진 프라이빗 브랜드 PENSA를 사용해왔습니다.
NY 인근에서 활동하는 대표적인 고객인 Rudy's는 항상 Pensa의 작업을 업데이트해 왔습니다.
이번 모델은 JB를 모티브로 모던한 업데이트를 적용한 J-4 PLUS 입니다.
첫 번째 GIB 주문을 위해 목재와 부품을 검토하고 브랜드와 논의했습니다.
그 결과, 브랜드 아이코닉한 특성을 지닌 독특한 베이스가 탄생했다고 생각합니다.
바디 백은 챔버 스왐프 애쉬(Chamber Swamp Ash)이며, 톱에는 고급 피규어 새벽월넛(Dawn Walnut)이 사용되었습니다.
페인트는 니트로셀 루즈랙커(Nitrocell Loose Racker)를 사용하였으며 색상은 상판은 내추럴, 뒷면은 DOGHAIR로 마감하였습니다.
이런 투톤의 아름다운 컬러링이 펜사만의 특징인 것 같아요.
튜너와 브릿지는 HIPSHOT과 일체화되어 있습니다.
이는 글로벌 스탠다드였고, 다른 선택을 할 특별한 이유는 없었다.
프리앰프는 Pensa Suhr Custom 시대와 동일합니다(부품이 일부 변경되었습니다).
고음은 부스트 및 컷이며 저음은 부스트 전용입니다.
작동 방식은 매우 화려하면서도 편안한 느낌을 줍니다.
소리적인 측면과 연주의 편안함 측면에서는 현을 울리는 순간 스피커가 흔들리는 속도와 현을 크게 움직이지 않고도 악기 전체의 편안함이 소리를 낸다.
넓은 음역에서 강하게 들리는 뉘앙스 역시 롱 스케일의 FODERA처럼 SADOWSKY NYC가 더욱 파워풀하다는 인상을 줍니다.
주문한지 1년여가 지났는데, 이번에 드디어 도착했습니다.
드디어 완성의 기쁨, 실제로 연주해 보니 그 훌륭함을 깨달았습니다.
