| oz design is a Japanese brand that primarily produces recording equipment. Utilizing the extensive knowledge and technical skills cultivated through the production of mixing and mastering equipment, the brand also produces high-quality guitar and bass effects. This model is an onboard bass preamp. It was created at the request of professional bassist Futoshi Sakai. What makes this model unique is that, despite being an onboard bass preamp, it does not have an equalizer section. Its purpose is to simply convert high-impedance signals to low-impedance without actively shaping the sound. Lowering the impedance reduces high-frequency loss, giving the perceived nuance of a slight boost in the high frequencies. In other words, the sound becomes clearer and more distinct. There are actually several such preamps, and the Vanderkley Fatboost built into De Gier guitars has a similar effect. Another feature is its extremely low noise. Noise is a major enemy in live performances, and a disadvantage for many people. This product is highly effective at lowering impedance and making the signal more resistant to noise. When shipped, it operates as a buffer amplifier, but by turning on the DIP switch on the board, the gain trim is enabled and can be adjusted from +3dB to +10dB. It can also be powered by 9V or 18V, making it suitable for use with a variety of basses. While the emphasis is on passive sound, it gives the impression of taking the sound to the next level with just a slight change. This is a product that we highly recommend you try.
