Description & Condition
Capurso Guitars is a high-end brand based in Italy that produces high-quality, handmade basses.
They are known for being trusted and loved by musicians such as Gabriele Costa and Giacomo Turra. (Titles omitted)
The instruments crafted by builder Andrea Capurso are all traditional, experimental, and musical.
He brings brilliant concepts to life with solid skill.
The Spiral is based on Fender's traditional style, but with a more contemporary twist.
This is a 24-fret, active, modern-style bass guitar inspired by the JB-type.
The body features a classic ash body and Canadian maple fingerboard.
The classic wood construction pays homage to Fender's late 1970s heritage.
The rosewood block inlays are unique and have a very luxurious feel.
The tuning machines and bridge are hipshot.
They're world-class.
The pickups are Lindy Fralin JB-type.
Capurso usually uses MAMA Pickups, a modern Italian brand, but this model is different.
As everyone knows, the sound is appealing, with the powerful low end that's characteristic of JB, a strong high end with a sense of attack, and a rich mid-range.
The preamp is a 3-band EQ made by Xander Electronics of Italy.
The frequencies are bass 30Hz, mid 250Hz, and treble 10kHz.
The bass extends down to the sub-range, and the treble extends to presence, and boosting it creates a high-range, speedy sound.
The mid is a slightly lower 250Hz.
Pushing it aggressively rather than using it to cut gives it a wide range while still achieving a bass-like balance.
In fact, Andrea Capurso, the builder of Capurso Guitars, was heavily involved in the preamp design.
His ideas are embodied in the products used in his work, so it's only natural that they're a good match.
The playing feel is extremely light, and the nuance of its loud sound while responding sensitively to even the smallest touches is very impressive.
A bass with multiple strings and 24 frets can often come across as being too tight, but this particular guitar has an open, spacious feel.
Because the neck is of extremely high quality, the string action is low to allow you to feel that better.
Also, as you can see from the photos, it has traditional specs that are more in line with Fender etiquette.
As a result, it has a smooth, speedy playing feel, and the sound is just the right amount of vintage-feeling JB-like, but with the crispness and power you'd expect from an active guitar.
It's a balance that's loved by many people.
A masterpiece that elevates the active JB style.
Please give it a try.
