A.S.P. GEAR is a Japanese effects brand.
The designer is a strong GEEK, creating beautiful products that shine with universal value from a truly maniacal perspective.

They have a reputation for producing truly maniacal effects pedals that cohabitate the functionality bassists seek with the cool sounds they dream of.

The brand's products have been used by Tejan Tetsuya of Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas, Yoshio Kuroyanagi of SOPHIA, and many others.

This is the TRIBAL GEYSER, which provides an aggressive drive sound and flexible EQ.
The TRIBAL GEYSER is a collaboration with GIB, and is finished with a high quality and simple look.

We told A.S.P. GEAR that GIB's opinion about this pedal was that “the strong drive sound with unreservedly boosted EQ has an irreplaceable appeal.
As a result of this discussion, we decided to use only boost on this GIB Limited model, instead of boost/cut on the EQ.

The elimination of the cutoff allows for more subtle sound creation using the full range of the knob's turn.

The TRIBAL GEYSER is a development of the TRIBAL AMP preamp.
The TRIBAL AMP is based on the sound of the GK series bass amplifiers.

The basic sound is therefore strong in the low mids and clear and powerful in the highs.

This alone is great, but the TRIBAL GEYSER adds an even more aggressive drive section.
We wanted to make it more specialized as a drive pedal, so as mentioned above, we changed the EQ to boost-only.

The EQ has 4 bands: LOW (60Hz), LoM (250Hz), HiM (1kHz), and HIGH (4kHz).

As a bassist, I agree that the low frequency is a little high at 60Hz and the HIGH is at 4kHz, which is also set in the Bartolini TCT series.

Personally, I agree with these settings, and in fact, when we design EQs for bass, we never leave these two points out.

And the fact that LoM and HiM are 250Hz and 1kHz is also exquisite.
At 250Hz, it adds persistence, and at 1kHz, it adds attack.

I personally like the fact that the LoM and HiM avoid the 500Hz area, as it tends to give a fuzzy impression.
Boosting these four EQs naturally makes the area around 500Hz sound like a valley.

This curve is similar to the 2-band boost-only type of preamps (Sadowsky, Alleva Coppolo, JIENIE, etc.) that are often installed in basses these days.

The BITE switch is very similar in this respect, and when turned on, it seems to suppress the 500 Hz area much more.

The drive section is simply DRIVE, MIX.
This drive is trebly without losing the lows, and adds a slight compressiveness and fresh overtones.

In general, this is a high-quality drive pedal that is modern, well-balanced, and capable of creating a highly unique sound image.
If you play it while touching the knobs yourself, you will strongly feel the appeal of this pedal.

It is especially good for basses with two PUs, such as the JB.
Highly recommended.

Please give it a try.
