Description & Condition
Sadowsky is a brand that began in 1979 when Roger Sadowsky opened his workshop in New York.
Based on his experience as a repairman, working on instruments for many session musicians, his basses have earned immense trust in the New York studio scene.
They are also known for being favored by many top professionals, including Marcus Miller and Will Lee.
Since 2019, Sadowsky has had a licensing agreement with Warwick of Germany. While the NYC custom shop remains, Warwick now handles the production of the Metro and MetroExpress series.
The MetroExpress is an entry-level series that allows you to experience the Sadowsky sound at a more accessible price.
It is manufactured in China and finished under continuous quality control.
This particular instrument is a 21-Fret Hybrid P/J Bass, a 5-string model.
It features a slim JB-style body with a PJ configuration, combining a P-type pickup in the neck position and a J-type pickup in the bridge position.
This guitar blends the thick, punchy low end of a P-type pickup with the tight, well-defined sound of a J-type pickup.
The J-type pickup on the bridge side features hum-canceling and is positioned in the same location as a 1960s JB.
A key feature is that it suppresses noise while still providing the clear, articulate sound characteristic of a JB.
Even with a 5-string, the pickup's character remains unchanged, providing solid support for lines that utilize the thickness of the Low-B string.
The color is Solid Sage Green Metallic High Polish.
The light green metallic color, contrasted with the parchment pickguard, creates a refreshing look.
The body is made of Okoume, and the neck is made of Roasted Maple.
Roasted Maple is a material that is said to have increased stability by removing moisture through high-temperature treatment.
The fingerboard is Morado (Pau Ferro), which has a warm look similar to rosewood.
The contrast with the bright body color gives the whole guitar a refined appearance.
The circuit features Sadowsky's signature active 2-band preamp.
Controls are volume, balance, treble, and bass.
Sadowsky's preamp is designed specifically for boosting; simply turning up the knob adds punchy lows and clear highs, allowing you to quickly achieve your desired sound.
The bass knob's push-pull function bypasses the preamp, allowing you to switch to passive sounds as well.
The hardware is also top-of-the-line, featuring a Sadowsky Just-A-Nut III nut, open-gear Sadowsky Light tuners, and a Sadowsky original bridge that allows for quick string changes.
The nut width is 48.1mm and the string spacing is 18mm, which is a standard setting for a 5-string bass.
It's well-balanced for both fingerstyle and slap playing.
With its distinctive color, this is the perfect guitar for anyone looking for a 5-string with a PJ configuration.
Don't miss this opportunity!
