Description & Condition
Ibanez is a Japanese brand developed by Hoshino Gakki, headquartered in Nagoya.
Its history dates back to Hoshino Shoten, founded in 1908, and today it is a comprehensive musical instrument brand loved by musicians worldwide.
In basses, Ibanez is known for its easy-to-play, modern models, including the SR series, and its artist models, such as those for Gary Willis, have also received high praise.
This instrument is the Ibanez UB805 electric upright bass.
It is a 5-string model in MOB (Mahogany Oil Burst) color.
Its appeal lies in its matte texture, similar to an oil finish, and its understated burst color.
The neck is a 5-piece Maple/Walnut neck-through construction, and the body wings are made of Maple.
The fingerboard is made of Jatoba, and the position markers are white dots.
Jatoba is a hard wood that combines rich mid-low frequencies with clear high frequencies, and is said to be about as hard as rosewood.
The fretboard radius is gentler at the nut and gradually changes towards the body.
This is a carefully designed specification, considering playability in an upright bass.
The scale length is 34 inches, the same length as an electric bass.
This makes it easy to get used to the positioning, even when switching from an electric bass.
The bridge is a Custom AeroSilk MR5 bridge, specifically tuned for upright basses, with a piezo pickup built into each saddle.
The controls are a simple volume and active tone configuration.
The plate on the back of the body has trim pots to adjust the gain for each string, allowing for fine-tuning of the volume balance for each string.
Its strengths lie in the piezo pickup's characteristic attack and acoustic resonance.
With its slim body, it's easy to carry and can be used for a wide range of purposes, from home practice to live performances.
You can also try arco playing with the included bow and rosin.
Recommended for those who want to try upright bass from electric bass, or those looking for a secondary instrument to their upright bass.
Please give it a try!
This is a fretless guitar.
The truss rod is loose, but it can be adjusted to about 90 degrees.
The neck has a slight twist on the bass string side, but this is not a problem with a high string action setting on an upright guitar. It is currently adjusted to 3.5mm-4.3mm.
The body and paintwork have some minor scratches, but are generally clean.
The electronics are in good condition.
No obvious modifications were found.
