Description & Condition

De Gier is a Dutch brand founded in 1996 by Sander De Gier.

He originally focused on creating unique and modern bass guitars, but now his main products are in the Fender style.

While the brand was already highly regarded, since the release of the BeBop, a JB-style model, its exceptional quality has kept him completely occupied with that project.

Currently, in addition to the Fender style, they also offer unique models incorporating Gibson style elements.

I first encountered De Gier at the Guitar Summit held in Germany in 2022.

At first glance, its presence filled me with anticipation, and that feeling turned into certainty the moment I strummed the strings.

I was so overwhelmed by the incredible quality that I began negotiations.

Initially, sales to Japan were difficult for various reasons, but after persistent negotiations, we have now been able to begin sales. (It was truly amazing, and I absolutely wanted to introduce it to Japanese musicians, so I persisted quite a bit.)

Many other brands exhibited at Guitar Summit, and I spoke with various builders.

De Gier came up several times, and it seemed their skill was widely known.

Several builders even mentioned ordering custom basses from De Gier.

That's how highly regarded the brand is in Europe and America.

And I myself hold them in the highest regard as well.

This model is their mega-hit, the BeBop 5.

Marcus Miller purchased a prototype of this model, and Richard Bona immediately ordered one afterward.

It continues to be highly regarded by true musicians like them.

This is the show model from Guitar Summit 2026.

The body is Swamp Ash, the neck is Roasted Maple, and the fretboard is Bubbinga.

The bridge is a custom-ordered original style from ETS, and the tuning machines are GOTOH RES-O-LITE.

The color is a vibrant and beautiful Trans White.

Their coloring skills are among the best in the world.

De Gier uses various pickups depending on the individual instrument, but this one features Lollar pickups.

A custom-wound original model made exclusively for the BeBop5.

While it's basically a passive circuit, it also features a custom Vanderkley Fatboost function.

By slightly boosting the low frequencies and lowering the impedance, high-frequency loss is reduced, resulting in a nuance that feels like both the low and high frequencies are boosted simultaneously.

The sound is already complete in passive mode, but simply pushing it a little further seems to give it an even more powerful impact.

This minimalist yet highly effective design is sure to impress every bassist.

The third knob is the passive tone control, but the push-pull switch allows you to adjust how the tone is affected.

When rolling off the tone, sometimes you want to significantly round out the high frequencies for a warmer sound, and other times you want to strongly emphasize the high-mids.

Normally, this would be adjusted by the capacitor choice, but this feature makes it easy to choose either.

The fourth knob is a rotary switch that turns the Fatboost on and off.

Despite being a 5-string bass, the 3rd and 4th strings retain a pleasant, open nuance with a nice low-mid, while the 1st and 2nd strings retain a harmonically rich midrange.

And the 5th string retains that trebly, classic JB feel, overflowing with a fresh, vibrant tone.

This is exactly what we've been looking for in a 5-string JB.

We promise you'll be impressed.
