Description & Condition
Spector is a guitar and bass brand founded in 1974 by Stuart Spector in New York.
Initially, Vinny Fodera, who would later establish Fodera Guitars, also worked at the Spector workshop.
The brand's NS model gained explosive popularity worldwide, a design developed in collaboration with Ned Steinberger.
Currently, Spector has production lines to meet a wide range of needs, including Czech and Asian-made instruments, but the heart of the brand is its workshop in Woodstock, New York.
Here, a small number of skilled craftsmen use carefully selected, top-of-the-line woods and advanced woodworking techniques to handcraft each and every instrument in the USA series, the brand's highest-end line.
This instrument is the NS-2, the pinnacle of the USA series, produced at that Woodstock workshop.
The neck is a maple through-neck, and the fretboard is made of Pau Ferro with beautifully shimmering abalone crown inlays.
The body wings feature an eye-catching, exotic look with a Buckeye Burl top and Walnut back.
The headstock appears to be Formica, but there's a possibility it's Fiberboard.
The body employs Spector's signature 3D curved design (NS shape), which feels like it's molded to the body.
It maintains perfect balance whether standing or sitting, boasting excellent playability that reduces player stress even during long stage performances.
It's equipped with EMG pickups and a HAZ preamp.
This is a familiar and quintessential Spector combination.
The sound is characterized by an incredibly dense low-mid with a slight saturation.
It possesses the strong, distinctive Spector identity known as the "Spector Growl."
Yet, it also has a moderate compression and a hard, fast, tight attack—a truly impressive sound.
Whether fingerpicking, picking, or slapping, it has an overwhelming presence that cuts through the ensemble. This is a truly exceptional instrument, a testament to the pride of the Woodstock workshop, a worthy addition to any life.
The frets have approximately 80% remaining.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck has a slight upward bow. The frets are worn down, resulting in a larger contact area with the strings. With the string height adjusted to 2.5mm for the G string and 3.0mm for the E string at the 12th fret, it is perfectly playable.
The body and paintwork have no noticeable scratches. There is some clouding around the body joints and cutaway.
The electronics are in good condition.
No obvious modifications were found.
