Sire became famous for releasing basses supervised by Marcus Miller.
The quality of their guitars and basses is extremely high, and they are highly regarded not only by Marcus Miller fans but also by a wider audience.
This is the P6-4.
While their usual models are classic in style, this one is more modern.
The body top is made of ash, and the back is made of mahogany.
This likely ensures both good looks and sound quality while utilizing high-quality Indonesian mahogany.
The fretboard and fretwork are exceptional.
At this price point, and even compared to higher-priced models, the quality is outstanding.
The pickup layout is a PB-type split-coil plus a JB-type single-coil.
This is the so-called PJ style.
There is no control plate; the controls are mounted directly to the body top.
These are named the Marcus Super-PJ Revolution Set Pickup set and Marcus Heritage-3 (No-Mid Frequency).
The controls consist of volume, tone, balance, treble, middle, and bass (push-pull active/passive switching).
While models like the P7 used a middle frequency control, this model has simpler controls.
In that respect, it could be considered a more classic active bass.
Furthermore, by fixing the middle frequency range, the manufacturer has designed the overall sound with a more deliberate intention.
This is something that only Sire, with its accumulated knowledge from numerous products, can achieve.
The sound is well-balanced from low to high frequencies, and is characterized by a crisp tone.
Even those who regularly play JB basses should find it satisfying.
The frets have approximately 90% remaining.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and paintwork show some minor scratches, but no noticeable damage.
