Description & Condition
Fodera is one of the most respected high-end bass brands in the world.
Founder Vinny Fodera began his career in his teens.
After working at top workshops such as Spector and Ken Smith, he founded Fodera Guitars in 1983.
Their clients include world-class musicians such as Victor Wooten, Richard Bona, Marcus Miller, and Anthony Jackson. (Titles omitted)
The breathtakingly beautiful finish justifies the high price tag.
This is a 4-string Emperor model with a double-cutaway body, a model that enjoys enduring popularity among musicians.
It was manufactured in 1985.
The inscription "AUG 10 1985" is engraved below the bridge.
The body top is Bubinga, the back is Walnut.
The neck is Maple, and the fingerboard is Indian Rosewood.
The Schaller bridge is a specification that reflects its era.
The pickups are EMG, and the preamp is a Fodera 2-band EQ.
The neck joint is a set-neck construction, which I think gives it a stronger Fodera feel than a bolt-on neck.
It's incredibly easy to play, and the responsiveness clearly reveals the open, strong string vibrations unique to a 4-string bass.
I've played many 5-string Foderas, but that's precisely why I strongly appreciate the charm of the 4-string.
This is a bass that will likely appeal to Fodera enthusiasts.
That's why I want many bassists to experience this masterpiece.
The frets have approximately 60% remaining.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck has some high-head bowing, but it's perfectly playable with the string height adjusted to 2.5mm for the G string and 3.0mm for the E string at the 12th fret.
The body and paintwork have scattered dents and scratches.
The electronics are in good condition.
No obvious modifications were observed.
