Sugi is a brand founded by Mr. Sugimoto, a legend who has supported Japanese guitar making for many years.
They manufacture high-quality guitars and basses in Nagano Prefecture and are highly regarded by many professional musicians.
Their basses are known to be used by musicians such as Hojin Egawa and Mike Porcaro of TOTO. (Titles omitted)
This instrument is the NB5, Sugi's flagship model.
The body top is made of beautifully grained Flamed Maple, and the body back is made of Mahogany.
The neck is a laminated type with a Maple core.
This technique of laminating multiple pieces of wood to create the neck reduces left-right and individual differences, resulting in greater stability.
The fingerboard is made of Ebony.
It is equipped with original pickups.
It features a simple passive circuit with neck pickup volume, bridge pickup volume, and master tone.
Despite being a 24-fret, 35-inch scale, it has a distinctive sound that is not too tight and has an open feel. This characteristic seems to have a positive impact on both fingerstyle and slap playing.
This is a top-of-the-line Japanese-made guitar, a superb fusion of premium materials and expert craftsmanship.
Fret life is approximately 90%.
