Sadowsky is a high-end New York brand with top-tier musicians like Marcus Miller and Will Lee as clients.
Previously, the Metroline series was manufactured in Japan, but as Warwick took over distribution of Sadowsky products, manufacturing shifted to the Warwick factory in Germany.
There were concerns about a potential decline in quality, given the high regard for the original Japanese-made Metroline models, but judging from the actual instrument, these concerns seem unfounded.
The MS5 is a modern model with 24 frets and a wide tonal range.
The basic design of this modern-style bass is by Roger Sadowsky.
Because the 24 frets bring the neck pickup closer to the end of the fretboard, the neck pickup is positioned somewhat closer to the bridge.
I was told by him that to compensate for the sharper sound resulting from the change in pickup position, the pickup type was changed to a soapbar type.
This model is a Special Edition.
As the name suggests, it's a special instrument made with special tonewoods.
The body top is made of Curly Sinker Redwood.
It boasts a truly magnificent grain.
The body back is made of Red Alder.
The fingerboard is Morado.
The hardware is uniformly black.
The body finish is a natural gloss that highlights the wood grain.
The excellent electronics produce a powerful sound even with low string action.
