Description & Condition
Tune is a long-established bass brand based in Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture.
Since its founding in 1983, it has been loved by many bassists.
This is the 8-string bass, Zi3-8N.
This model was developed in collaboration with Yoshihiro Naruse, bassist of Casiopea, one of Japan's leading fusion bands, and TUNE.
By combining a double string (one octave higher) with each main string, it produces brilliant harmonics and an overwhelming thickness of sound, similar to a 12-string guitar.
It's a very unique model that adds presence to an ensemble with just one instrument.
The body has a multi-laminate structure combining a Walnut/Padauk/Bubinga top and back with an African Mahogany core.
The neck is made of Hard Maple, and the fingerboard is made of Ebony.
The neck-through construction, which produces rich sustain, and the hard wood construction achieve both powerful low frequencies and a clear attack.
This bass fully brings out the rich, full sound unique to double-string basses.
It features EMG JB-type pickups and a TUNE GAP-1 preamp.
In addition to its powerful, low-noise sound, the 3-band EQ and internal gain trim allow for a wide range of sound shaping.
With its distinctive looks, high playability, and the craftsmanship characteristic of high-end Japanese-made basses, this is a rare find these days.
The frets have approximately 80% remaining.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and paintwork show minor scratches, but there are no noticeable scratches or dents. There is noticeable tarnishing on the hardware.
The electronics are in good condition.
The master volume and balance knobs have been replaced.
