Fender is, of course, the number one brand of electric guitars and basses.
It's loved by countless top artists, including Jaco Pastorious, Marcus Miller, and Geddy Lee. (Titles omitted)
The Jazz Bass was released as a higher-end model than the Precision Bass.
Its sharp, clear sound is loved by many bassists, and it continues to enjoy overwhelming support and a shining presence even today.
This is a Jazz Bass produced between 1969 and 1971.
It has rare transitional specifications.
The serial number is "323616," and the neck date is "02032494-1."
Based on other specifications, we believe it's a 1970-71 model using a 1969 neck.
The body is alder, and the neck and fretboard are maple.
While the 60s might bring to mind alder and rosewood combinations, and the 70s ash and maple combinations, the alder and maple combination, with its light midrange, is also highly recommended.
This is a 1969 model, making it one of the earliest with a maple fretboard.
The frets are believed to be original.
They have undergone considerable leveling, and while the remaining fret life is low, the playability is still relatively good.
The pickups are original gray bobbins.
A unique feature of this model is the 60s-style pickup spacing.
In other words, it's a rare example of a maple fretboard with 60s-style pickup spacing.
We considered the possibility that the body and neck were from different instruments (a so-called "two-in-one" combination), but since this specification does exist occasionally, we believe it is original.
The fast, tight attack characteristic of the 70s is distinctive, yet the open midrange nuance is a unique charm of this instrument, combining alder and maple.
Compared to typical early 1970s models, it exhibits a stronger midrange.
Highly recommended.
Fret life is approximately 50%.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck shows some high-frequency bowing and a slight back-bow twist on the bass string side. Currently, it is playable without issues according to GIB standards.
The body and paintwork have dents and scratches. Part of the binding on the neck heel is missing. Position markers from the 3rd to 9th frets are missing.
The electronics are in good condition.
The pickup lead wires have been replaced.
The electronics have had their potentiometers replaced with 1980 Centralab potentiometers. The capacitors are believed to be original ceramic capacitors. The jack has been replaced with a gold-colored one.
