J.W.Black is a brand created by John W. Black, a renowned craftsman and former Fender Master Builder.
Starting his career in the 1970s, he has a proven track record of building and repairing instruments for Fender, Sadowsky, and Rudy's, as well as working on instruments for Frank Zappa and Eric Clapton. (Titles omitted)
This model, the JWB-JP-JB, inherits J.W.Black's design philosophy while achieving excellent cost performance through domestic manufacturing in Japan.
It features a classic wood construction with an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard.
The pickups are Lollar Pickups Jazz Bass 4-String Pickup Set, and the capacitors have been replaced with HUMPBACK capacitors.
The rich harmonics and three-dimensional, vintage-like tone characteristic of Lollar pickups, combined with the natural and smooth tone control provided by the HUMPBACK capacitors, results in a more musically expressive sound.
The sound, which balances a fat low end with a tight attack, possesses a classic Jazz Bass character while blending well into modern ensembles.
This is a highly refined instrument that combines a vintage feel with excellent playability and practical upgrades.
Fret life is approximately 95%.

The body and paintwork show some minor scratches throughout. There is some paint chipping at the neck joint. There is a dent in the truss rod adjustment opening.
