Description & Condition

Freedom is a Tokyo-based guitar workshop that enjoys overwhelming support from professional musicians in Japan, and in recent years, its name has begun to resonate overseas.

Originally highly regarded for its repair work, the workshop now focuses on manufacturing, and its creations are loved by many musicians for their high quality and rational design sense.

All basses from this brand are manufactured in Tokyo.

Through strict quality control, the wood used is carefully selected, and any wood that does not meet the standards is not used in the products.

This level of quality control is possible precisely because it is a small workshop.

In that sense, the quality is fundamentally different from that of products made in large factories.

This model is a PJ model specially ordered from GIB.

What is particularly noteworthy is its supreme playability and the sound that musicians truly desire in a PJ.

The neck, carefully crafted using stainless steel frets while respecting Fender's conventions, is truly top-notch.

While it doesn't have a particularly unique shape, that's precisely why its basic quality stands out. The sharp response, speedy and wide-range sound contributes to its high playability.

A major issue with PJ basses is the unique sound when mixed; this may be something PJ enthusiasts are already accepting.

The strangely distorted phase nuance can sometimes be negative.

Few brands have their own solutions for this balance, but Freedom has one.

For the P pickup, the balance between the number of turns and wire length is adjusted by using a dummy pole piece for one of the 3rd strings.

For the J pickup, the shielding is higher than usual to maintain a refined balance when mixed.

This is very rational for PJ-style basses, where noise cancellation in the mix is not possible.

The color is a sophisticated burgundy, finished with lacquer.

The more you play it, the more the sound and appearance will change.

Personally, I don't think one is superior to the other between lacquer and urethane, but I requested a lacquer finish with the hope that you would enjoy the changes and cherish it for a long time. Few brands can produce a 5-string PJ bass of this quality.

That's why so many working musicians use it.

A masterpiece that combines the PJ style with the timeless value of Fender.

Highly recommended without reservation.
