Description & Condition
Cort is a leading guitar brand from South Korea.
They own their own factory and have a global presence, particularly in OEM manufacturing.
For example, Ibanez and PRS are famously manufactured in Cort's guitar factory.
This in-house brand is manufactured utilizing the knowledge gained from OEM manufacturing.
This is the GB-MODERN 5, a modern JB-type bass packed with practical specifications demanded by modern bassists.
The body features a maple center block combined with Paulownia and White Ash wing pieces, and a Poplar Burl top with an eye-catching, exotic grain.
A thin layer of walnut is laminated beneath the top wood.
A particularly noteworthy feature, and arguably the greatest highlight of this model, is the Litelift Body Design.
By using Paulownia, an extremely lightweight wood, this guitar achieves an astonishingly light weight of approximately 3.8 kg without relying on techniques that physically hollow out the body, such as chambering, while maintaining the instrument's inherent strength and solid resonance.
When you actually hold it, the balance is excellent, and it's a superior design that allows for deep concentration even during long playing sessions because it doesn't strain the body.
The neck and fingerboard are made of roasted maple, whose rigidity and stability have been enhanced through heat treatment.
Combined with a 35-inch extra-long scale, it maintains excellent tension on the low-B string, producing a tight bass sound with no pitch fluctuations.
The fingerboard radius is designed to be flat at 15.75 inches (R400), and the fret edges are very smoothly finished, making fingering stress-free, and many players will likely have a positive impression of its comfort.
The number of frets is 22.
This is the same as the Sadowsky Will Lee model, etc.
I think this is the maximum number of frets that can be achieved while maintaining a classic sound. The side position markers utilize Luminlay, clearly demonstrating the meticulous attention to detail in its construction.
The hardware is comprised of top-of-the-line components.
The tuning machines are the globally renowned Hipshot Ultralite.
Their tuning accuracy is exceptionally high, and their lightweight design helps to reduce the neck dive often associated with multi-string basses.
The bridge is a Babicz FCH5.
Unlike typical saddles that are supported by two set screws, its unique structure ensures the saddle's bottom surface is in close contact with the base plate, providing support across a wider surface area. This eliminates gaps under the saddle, resulting in rich sustain.
Precise string height and octave adjustments are possible, and it also features a string height lock function to ensure optimal settings are maintained, making it a highly practical piece of hardware.
The pickups are Nordstrand Big Single pickups.
While they appear as large soapbar-type pickups, the internal structure is a meticulously crafted single-coil design, utilizing the internal space to its fullest extent for wire winding.
Thanks to the synergistic effect of the strong magnet, it delivers an overwhelmingly thick and aggressive tone while maintaining the sharp edge and clarity characteristic of single-coil pickups.
The preamp features the MB Instrument Preamp, uniquely developed by MarkBass, a leading name in the bass amplifier world.
The 3-band EQ has center frequencies of 85Hz for LOW, 500Hz for MID, and 8500Hz for HIGH (each band ±15dB), a frequency setting that reflects the extensive experience of an amplifier builder, allowing for precise control of the bass's sweet spot.
A major strength is that the core of the sound doesn't easily break down even when the EQ is drastically adjusted, and the natural tuning that minimizes the volume difference when switching between active and passive modes is also a welcome feature.
The sound is characterized by a moderate sense of airiness and a wide range, combined with a tight and fast attack.
From punchy tones that cut through the mix to warm, mellow tones, this bass offers effortless control, truly embodying the essence of a high-end, modern instrument.
A masterpiece that brilliantly combines exceptional lightness with world-class components.
As expected from an Indonesian-made instrument, it boasts a significant price advantage over other brands.
This is a must-try for anyone who has a negative impression of lower-priced or Asian-made basses.
You'll undoubtedly be surprised.
We deliver this bass to you with the highest possible quality, after thorough re-inspection and setup by Geek IN Box.
