Sire became famous for releasing basses supervised by Marcus Miller.
The quality of their guitars and basses is exceptionally high, and they are highly regarded not only by Marcus Miller fans but also by a wider audience.
The body is made of alder, and the neck and fretboard are made of hard maple.
The fretboard and fret finish are outstanding.
At this price point, and even compared to higher-priced models, the quality is exceptional.
The original pickups are combined with an active circuit, in true Marcus Miller style.
These are named the Marcus Super-J Revolution Set and Marcus Heritage-3 with Middle Frequency Control.
The controls are numerous—volume, tone, balancer, bass, middle, middle frequency, treble, and active/passive switch—but they are well-organized for bassists.
The sound is characterized by a tight yet harmonically rich and powerful tone with a moderate amount of compression.
This model is a must-try not only for those aiming for a Marcus Miller-esque sound, but also for anyone simply looking for a high-quality JB bass.
Fret life is approximately 90%.
The truss rod is in good condition.
