This is an officially licensed Steinberger bass manufactured by HOHNER.
While the original Steinberger is known for using advanced new materials such as graphite, this model is made using wood.
However, its sound and playability still retain a distinct Steinberger character.
The body is made of solid maple, the neck is maple, and the fingerboard is rosewood.
The pickups have been replaced with EMG-HB pickups.
It features a clear, low-noise, and tight sound characteristic of a headless bass.
Furthermore, both the neck pickup and bridge pickup volume appear to have been replaced with current CTS parts.
It features a tight low end and a clean, smart tone, characteristic of a headless design.
Despite its portable size, it's an attractive instrument that never loses its bass-like character.
The frets have approximately 70% remaining.
The truss rod is stiff, but it can be adjusted to about 90 degrees.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and paintwork show minor scratches and some tarnishing on the hardware. There is a dent of about 1cm on the back.
The electronics have a slight crackling sound in the tone control.
Both pickups appear to have been replaced with EMG-HB pickups.
The two volume pots also appear to have been replaced with current CTS pots.
