Squier, a brand under the Fender umbrella, specializes in lower-priced products.
It offers many unique models not found in Fender's lineup, attracting the attention of many guitar enthusiasts.
The Jazz Bass was released as a higher-end model than the Precision Bass.
Its sharp, clear sound is loved by many bassists, and it continues to enjoy overwhelming support and a shining presence even today.
This is a 1983 SJB-55.
The joint plate is engraved with the serial number "JV76617".
The neck end has "9-13'83" written in pencil.
This is what is known as a JV serial, and it is highly regarded.
Although it is a Squier brand, it dates from a period when it was manufactured in the same way as Fender Japan.
The body is made of alder, and the fingerboard is rosewood, a standard configuration.
The finish is likely urethane.
The neck pickup has been replaced with a Seymour Duncan SJB-1N. The bridge pickup is the original single-coil.
The quality is superb, eloquently speaking of the rich sound and playability of the Fender Japan/Squier JV era.
The powerful low end, crisp treble, and rich yet sharp sound are universally wonderful, as expected from a JB.
The frets have approximately 55% remaining.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition. There is a slight twist causing a slight back bow on the bass string side, but it is playable without problems by GIB standards.
The body and paint surface show scratches, dents, and paint cracks.
The electronics are in good condition.
The neck pickup has been replaced with a Seymour Duncan SJB-1N.
All potentiometers and jacks have been replaced (Alpha 250k, Switchcraft).
