Description & Condition
Description & Condition
Momose, based in Matsumoto, Nagano, produces high-quality basses and guitars.
They are renowned for their beautiful looks and superior sound.
Popular among professionals, they are known to be used by top musicians such as Kazuki Isogai and Kyohei Ariga. (Titles omitted)
This is the MJ24-704MV/M, a model that follows Momose's 70s JB style.
Renewed in February 2026, it's a modern specification that combines traditional features with modern updates throughout.
The body is made of 2-piece ash, and the neck and fingerboard are made of beautiful quarter-sawn maple, a classic configuration reminiscent of the 70s.
This quarter-sawn maple boasts extremely high rigidity compared to regular flat-sawn wood, not only enhancing neck stability but also powerfully supporting a tight and fast sound attack.
The bass features Mojotone® Classic Jazz Bass pickups, accurately capturing the sound and feel of vintage instruments.
While based on a traditional passive configuration of 2 Volume and 1 Tone, it also incorporates a turbo switch, allowing for an instant shift to a thick, punchy mid-low tone while retaining the naturalness characteristic of passive systems.
Furthermore, the electronics utilize Centralab oil capacitors and a Puretone jack boasting superior connection stability thanks to its 4-point support system.
In addition, the bridge and tuning machines are high-precision GOTOH 203B-4 and GBU-510C-12, and the frets are made by Jescar, renowned for their durability and accurate pitch. Every single part is crafted with meticulous attention to detail.
Thoughtful design elements, such as the luminous Luminlay side dots for high visibility even on dark stages, are also welcome features for players.
The bass is characterized by a crisp attack and a well-balanced, clear tone with rich harmonics.
From the tight, controlled bass to the sharp treble characteristic of 70s JB basses, every position you play delivers a clear, well-defined tone that cuts beautifully through the ensemble.
From aggressive slap techniques to the delicate nuances of fingerstyle playing, it possesses a wide range of expressive capabilities that respond faithfully to the player's touch.
For players who love traditional styles while also seeking high playability and reliable practicality, this is a superb Japanese-made bass that we highly recommend.
