Description & Condition
Description & Condition
Sire became famous for releasing basses supervised by Marcus Miller.
The quality of their guitars and basses is extremely high, and they are highly regarded not only by Marcus Miller fans but also by a wider audience.
This model is the V5, based on the Jazz Bass.
While there are several models in the V series, this one has a design that evokes a vintage feel.
The neck is made of roasted maple with a satin finish.
This is also known as Thermowood.
Thermowood, which was commercialized in the musical instrument field by Japan's Sago, was originally used in Finland as a building material for saunas.
Thermowood is valued for its resistance to high temperatures and humidity, and its usefulness for musical instruments is evident from its adoption by top manufacturers such as Sadowsky and Suhr.
A certain amount of Thermowood is discarded during the processing.
Presumably, those that would warp in the future are also discarded here.
Sound-wise, it has a strong impression of a well-worn, mature tone.
The fretboard is also made of Roasted Maple.
Unlike the neck, it has a gloss finish.
The edges are nicely rounded, aiming to improve playability.
Most players will likely have a positive impression of this specification.
The body is made of Alder, a very classic wood choice.
The pickup placement is the same as a Fender 70's JB.
It produces a unique, tight, and powerful sound.
The bridge is also designed with a classic style in mind.
The controls are simple: 2 volume, 1 tone.
It features a powerful sound that is tight yet rich in harmonics, with a moderate amount of compression.
It retains the ease of playability characteristic of Sire basses, while offering a vintage-like feel.
This bass is highly recommended not only as a step-up instrument, but also as a backup.
