Tokai is a Japanese manufacturer of various musical instruments.

In particular, their guitars and basses are highly popular both domestically and internationally as a representative of Japanese vintage instruments.

This model is the HARD PUNCHER, one of the representative models of Japanese vintage instruments.

It's a Tokai PB model.

Manufactured between 1978 and 1979.

This particular instrument has undergone numerous modifications, including a GAV Mod by Natori Onzo.

While Japanese vintage instruments are often used as a base for modifications, this instrument boasts an exceptionally high level of craftsmanship.

It's as if such a model originally existed in the modern era.

The body is likely made of sen wood, and the neck and fretboard are made of one-piece maple.

Most parts of the instrument, excluding the body and neck, have been modified.

The pickups have been replaced with Nordstrand NP4V pickups.

As you can see, the pickguard has been replaced with a gold anodized one, and it has a reverse P-style neck.

This style is inspired by Rocco Prestia, bassist of Tower of Power.

This style, which places the coils on the 1st and 2nd strings closer to the neck than a standard P-type pickup configuration, ensures a fuller sound even on the higher strings.

It seems to be a well-balanced design within the P-style.

The electronics feature a GAV Mod, with carefully selected vintage parts and optimal tuning tailored to this particular instrument.

The tuning machines are made by GOTOH, and the bridge saddles have been replaced with KTS Titanium.

These are standard, reliable parts, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining a vintage-like sound.

Although it's a relatively old instrument, it has undergone PLEK leveling and is in excellent condition.

It's a level of precision that top professionals can actually use in live settings.

It features a sound characterized by a thick, PB-like low end and an open mid-high range produced by the combination of a relatively lightweight body and fretboard.

This type of bass is perfectly suited to funk music.

Highly recommended.

Fret life is approximately 70%.

Truss rod is in good condition.

Neck is in good condition.

Body and paintwork show some dents and minor scratches.

●Defect Warranty

Basic Co., Ltd. provides a warranty against defects for products sold by the company. The warranty period is 3 months for used products and 1 year for new products.
