Description & Condition

HEX Guitars is a South Korea-based brand specializing in entry-level to mid-range guitars.

They own their own factory in Indonesia, and the company president himself lives there to maintain a high level of quality control.

This dedication, evident in the president's personal involvement rather than outsourcing, allows them to produce guitars of a quality far exceeding what one might expect from their price point.

The NB505 is the base model for their newly launched "NEXT SERIES."

It features modern and comprehensive specifications, including fanned frets and active circuitry.

The refined body shape is crafted from mahogany.

The neck utilizes a laminated design of maple and walnut.

By laminating several pieces of wood to form the neck, left-right asymmetry is minimized, resulting in high stability and robustness.

The fretboard is made of walnut, with a relatively flat 12-inch radius.

The neck shape is relatively thin, a slim C-shape.

The frets are made of stainless steel.

Stainless steel is characterized by its lack of tarnishing and high hardness.

Stainless steel frets are popular because they retain their shine indefinitely and are extremely resistant to wear.

They are also used by high-end guitar brands such as Suhr Guitars.

The pickups are original single-coil pickups.

They use original pickups in many of their models.

This is not for cost-cutting purposes, but because they have confidence in the quality of the pickups they design themselves.

The pickups are designed by staff who know music and play music on a daily basis, after thoroughly researching many elements such as magnets, wires, and bobbins.

It features an original preamp, allowing for flexible sound shaping with a 3-band EQ.

The EQ frequency range is practical: BASS 50Hz, MIDDLE 1kHz, Treble 6kHz.

The controls are Volume (active/passive switch with push-pull switch), Balancer, BASS, MIDDLE, and TREBLE. (Preamp gain can be adjusted from the back panel)

The balance in your hand is excellent, and even those who usually play Fender basses will likely find the HEX NB easy to play.

No special headless strings are needed; standard bass strings (Jazz Bass or Precision Bass) can be used.

It has a clean sound typical of headless basses, yet it doesn't lose musical harmonics or rich bass tones.

The basic quality of the neck is extremely high, resulting in excellent playability; it's difficult to say it's inferior to instruments in the 200,000 yen range.

Overall, it's a superb product with high quality in looks, playability, and sound.

You might be hesitant because it's headless, but I highly recommend trying it out.

You'll likely be surprised by its high quality.

This product has undergone precise fret leveling using PLEK.

All frets are perfectly level, theoretically producing a stable tone without buzz.

The frets have approximately 80% remaining.
