Description & Condition
Modulus is a brand known for designing high-quality basses using carbon graphite necks.
Notable bassists who use this brand include Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Ue-chan (Maximum the Hormone). (Titles omitted)
This is a BassStar made in the 1980s.
The body top and back appear to be walnut.
The fretboard is ebony.
This kind of all-black ebony has become rare these days.
The most distinctive feature of this model is the carbon neck connected via a neck-through construction.
Although it lacks a truss rod, it offers sufficient rigidity.
The fusion of wood and carbon creates a beautifully balanced and elegant look.
The pickups are EMG PJ configuration with an active circuit.
Controls include master volume, balancer, and treble/bass.
As expected from a carbon neck, it features a speedy sound and responsiveness.
Despite its simple design, its musicality and beautiful nuances are a major appeal.
It boasts a deep low end and a sharp, piercing high end.
This unique and captivating sound, characteristic of this era, has a magical quality that makes you want to keep playing it.
As a side note, the body top bears the signature of fusion bassist Yoshihiro Naruse, also known as "Narucho."
It also appears that this particular instrument was previously owned by Mr. Naruse.
The frets have approximately 60% remaining.
The neck is almost perfectly straight.
The body and paintwork show some minor scratches and dents.
The electronics are in good working order.
The strap pins have been replaced with Schaller pins.
