Ulrich Bass Design is a small, handmade bass brand from Germany.
Builder Florian Hertzsch is also a violin maker.
A defining feature of this brand is how it incorporates widely cultivated classical techniques and Spanish guitar construction while achieving a refined balance as a modern bass.
I've met Florian several times in Germany, and he's a truly wonderful person.
Young, intelligent, and brimming with talent, I believe he is someone who will carry the next generation of the guitar industry.
Nicolo is the latest creation recently announced by Ulrich Bass Design.
An artistic masterpiece featuring a single pickup mounted on the bridge side.
The body employs Ash for the back and Purpleheart for the top.
It's semi-hollow, astonishingly lightweight at 3.29kg, and produces beautiful harmonics.
The neck is 3-piece Maple with a Birdseye Maple fingerboard.
It features an ultra-deep joint where the neck is set deep into the body.
It's a set neck, beautifully joined.
It features a Harry Haeussel Bassbar pickup and a Noll preamp.
Controls include volume, middle, and treble/bass.
A push-pull switch on the volume knob bypasses the preamp for passive operation.
The tuners are Schaller.
