JIENIE BASSES is a custom bass guitar brand launched in 2023.
The Custom Shop Series allows for customization of many aspects, including scale, neck shape, and head size, while maintaining the brand's unique style.
The newly launched Essential Series, on the other hand, features specifications determined by the brand itself to achieve the optimal balance, resulting in a streamlined design.
This model, the MJ-5, was conceived more than 10 years before the brand was founded.
It is inspired by the 5-string JB.
While incorporating the 5-string style, the sound remains JB-like, adding high playability and convenience for more modern musicians.
The body is made of alder, with a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, a classic construction.
The neck is thin and narrow, keeping mass as small as possible.
This aims for a sound similar to that of a 4-string bass.
The neck is reinforced with carbon fiber only near the joint with the body.
Since the strength drops significantly at the joint, this reinforcement prevents distortion from occurring at that point.
Reinforcing the entire guitar would significantly alter the sound, so we have kept the processing to a minimum.
The headstock is based on the same stepped design as the JB, but we have made minimal adjustments to the angle and set the headstock thickness.
This eliminates parts like tension pins and allows the strings to contact the nut at a minimal angle.
This innovation removes unnecessary elements, allowing the strings to vibrate more freely and with richer overtones.
The body shape is designed with smooth, three-dimensional curves, providing a comfortable fit and a sophisticated look.
There is no pickguard, but the space between the body top and the strings is roughly the same as that of a standard JB.
Overall, you will feel a very JB-like comfort in the way it is held and played.
The bridge and tuning machines are HIPSHOT.
This is very lightweight, with no unnecessary elements and high-quality hardware.
The pickups are single-coil types custom-ordered from Delano.
We didn't overdo it with the number of windings, but instead focused on creating a treble sound like a four-string bass.
The preamp was designed in-house and manufactured by KarDiaN.
It was designed to be used in conjunction with a passive tone control, and features a two-band boost-only EQ.
The bass boost provides a full feeling from 40-70 Hz, while the flashy treble boost provides strength from 4-10 kHz. By boosting these sufficiently, the 500 Hz range feels relatively lower.
The passive tone control combined with this plays a major role.
By using the passive tone control to suppress the high frequencies before the pickup passes through the active circuit, we create the strong high-mid sound that only a passive pickup can produce. This is purely for the purpose of enhancing the high-mid sound, and any excess or deficiency in the high frequencies is corrected by the EQ.
The sound of the MJ-5 was completed by utilizing pickups, preamps, and passive tones designed with a clear concept in mind.
The JIENIE MJ-5 embodies the thickness and attack of a passive JB, the strength of the low and high frequencies typical of a JB, and the treble texture of a 4-string bass, despite being a 5-string.

● Repurchase Price Guarantee
If you sell your instrument within six months of purchase, we will guarantee a full repurchase price. This guarantee applies to 50% of the purchase price for new instruments and 70% of the purchase price for used instruments.
● Defect Guarantee
All products sold by Basic Co., Ltd. are guaranteed against defects. With the exception of some consignment items, we offer free repairs (and refunds only if repairs are not possible) for any malfunctions that occur during normal use within the warranty period from the date of purchase.
The warranty period is three months for used products and one year for new products.
Please note that even within the warranty period, there will be a fee for the following cases:
- Breakdown or damage caused by transportation, movement, dropping, etc.
- Replacement of consumables.
- Breakdown or damage caused by fire, earthquake, salt damage, gas damage, or abnormal voltage.
- Breakdown or damage caused by handling that violates the precautions in the instruction manual.
- Breakdown or damage to parts repaired or modified by a party other than our company.
- If the name, model name, serial number, etc. are not written on the warranty card, or if the wording has been altered.
- If the warranty card is not presented or is lost.
