Description & Condition
Bacchus is a Japanese brand based in Nagano, Japan.
Bacchus is a brand under the umbrella of Divisor, which owns a large guitar factory called Asuka Factory, and is highly regarded by many musicians for the high quality of its guitars, which are made by the factory itself.
Bacchus has several series in different price ranges, and the Universe series pursues especially high cost performance.
The WJB5-1DX is a JB model that focuses on playability and sound while keeping the price low.
The body shape is the same dinky shape as the top-of-the-line WOODLINE series.
The neck joint is heel-less cut and contoured for good playability in the high position.
The frets are made of stainless steel, which is highly resistant to wear and contamination.
This is an innovation at such a price point, as it costs more than nickel frets.
Roasted maple is used for the neck.
Roasted maple is originally a Finnish technology, pioneered by Sago, a Kansai brand, in terms of its use in instruments.
This material is said to have been treated at high temperature to volatilize moisture and increase rigidity. Naturally, wood that has gone out of alignment during this process is not used.
In this way, the quality of the product is high in two ways.
Instruments made of Roasted Maple have a more natural sound and feel, in the good sense of the word, less like new.
Like the stainless steel frets, this kind of specification is not usually used in this price range.
The preamp with PU and 2-band EQ is a Bacchus original.
This combination is very nice, and the sound is wide-range and speedy.
With 5-string basses in this price range, it is not uncommon to be concerned about the low B sound, but when I actually played the bass, I had no such concerns.
The perception that “low Bs on low-priced basses don't sound good” has to be changed.
Please give the GIB a try.
