A.S.P. GEAR is a Japanese effects pedal brand.
The designer is a strong geek, and from a truly maniac perspective, he creates beautiful products that shine with universal value.

They are well known for manufacturing truly maniac effect pedals that combine the functionality that bassists want with the cool sound they dream of.

Teyan Tetsuya of Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas and Yoshio Kuroyanagi of SOPHIA are known to be fans of the brand's products.

This is the TRIBAL GEYSER, which provides an aggressive drive sound and flexible EQ.
As a collaboration with GIB, it has a high-quality and simple look.

Previously it was only available in black, but this time it is a new white color.
I think it has a simple and clean impression that is typical of GIB.

We conveyed to A.S.P. GEAR that GIB's view on this pedal is that ""the strong drive sound with unrestrained EQ boost has an irreplaceable appeal.""
After discussing this, we decided to make the EQ of this GIB Limited model boost only, instead of boost/cut.

By removing the cut, it is now possible to create more delicate sounds using the full range of the knob.

The TRIBAL GEYSER is an advanced version of the TRIBAL AMP preamp.

The TRIBAL AMP is inspired by the sound of GK-style bass amps.

As a result, the basic sound is strong in the low mids, and the highs are clear and powerful.

This alone is great, but the TRIBAL GEYSER adds an even more aggressive drive section.
As we wanted to specialize it more as a drive pedal, we changed the EQ to boost only, as mentioned above.

The EQ is 4 bands, with LOW (60Hz), LoM (250Hz), HiM (1kHz), and HIGH (4kHz).

As a bassist, it makes sense that the low range is a little high at 60Hz, and the HIGH is 4kHz, which is also set in the Bartolini TCT series.

I personally agree with this setting, and in fact, when we design EQs for bass, we never miss these two points.

And the LoM and HiM are 250Hz and 1kHz, which is also perfect.

250Hz adds stickiness, and 1kHz adds attack strength.

Around 500Hz, it tends to give a blurry impression, so I personally like that this is avoided.

When you boost these four EQs, the area around 500Hz naturally becomes like a valley.

This curve is similar to the 2-band boost-only types (Sadowsky, Alleva Coppolo, JIENIE, etc.) that are common in recent bass preamps.

The BITE switch gives a similar impression, and when it's on, it feels like the 500Hz range is much more suppressed.

The drive section is simple, with only DRIVE and MIX.
This drive is treble-heavy without losing the lows, and adds a slight sense of compression and fresh overtones.

Overall, it's a high-quality drive pedal that is modern, well-balanced, and can create a highly unique sound image.
You'll be able to really feel its appeal if you play while touching the knobs yourself.

I think it's especially compatible with basses with two pickups, such as JBs.
Highly recommended.

Please give it a try.
