Suhr Guitars is synonymous with high-end guitar brands.
Founder John Suhr started his career at the famous Rudy's shop in New York, where he was highly regarded for his work on the Pensa Suhr, designing amplifiers for CAE and as a master builder for Fender.
Not to mention his excellent work on his own brand Suhr Guitars, which he later founded.
His guitars are particularly popular in Japan, but as his work with Pensa Suhr and Fender shows, the basses he makes are also top-notch.
This is the Classic J, which is a model based on the JB.
The body is ash, the fingerboard is maple and the construction is classic.
This model has an active circuit, which is a bit unusual.
The PU is a Humpnry Suhr 65JB, the preamp is probably original and is marked JOHN SUHR 99 JST3B.
The bridge is probably a KTS / PR-03WB1.
This is quite rare and has probably been replaced. (It could of course have been a custom order ......)
The tuners are HIPSHOT.
The sound is lightly coloured with modern hardware and output with top-notch playability.
The neat and beautiful design around the neck is distinctive, and the quality in this area is truly superlative for Suhr.
This is a textbook example of how good hardware, carefully incorporated in a beautiful design, can naturally produce a good sound.

The truss rod action feels a little stiff, but we have confirmed that it works at least 90°.
The neck is in good condition at the moment.
The grips are originally matte but have an overall glossy finish. This suggests that it is a working instrument that has been played for a reasonable amount of time.
There are some dents and scratches around the neck.
The condition of the body and paintwork shows a large paint crack near the joint.
There are currently no functional problems.
There are screw hole marks on the top of the body, as if a finger rest had been attached.
Scratches from dents can be seen throughout the body.
