Musicman emerged as Leo Fender's second brand and was loved by bassists worldwide.
After being acquired by Ernie Ball, this has remained the case and is still widely accepted by modern bassists.

Louis Johnson, Flea and many other artists are known to use the company's basses.

The Stingray is the brand's most popular classic model by far.
Along with Fender's Jazz Bass and Precision Bass, it is arguably one of the most popular basses in the world.

This model is literally a special edition of the Stingray.

The neck is made of Roasted Maple.

Roasted, thermo wood is a new wood popularised by Sago New Material Guitars.
It was originally developed using Finnish technology as a wood for making saunas.

Treatment at high temperatures volatilises the water and oil inside the wood, making it highly stable even at high temperatures and humidity.
In terms of sound, it gives the impression of a richer, more mature sound.

The fingerboard is ebony.
This is a point typical of special models.

In recent years, the brand has updated the pickups and pre-amp.
The pickups are made of neodymium magnets.

This results in a powerful, wide-range sound.
It retains the classic Stingray tone, but is more suited to modern ensembles.

The pre-amplifier is now driven by 18V instead of the 9V previously used.
This gives more headroom and aims for a clearer tone.

The sound is transformable thanks to the 3-band EQ, and can range from a slap-pleasing crunchy sound to warm vintage tones.

When a single manufacturer handles everything from pickups to pre-amps like this, the manufacturer's aims are strongly reflected in the sound, which can be good or bad, but is very unique.

I personally have a good impression of this renewal and feel that it is very refined and complete.

The pegs feature a redesigned, lightweight open-gear type.
It goes without saying that the balance when held in position is very good, but in terms of sound there is also a change in a positive direction to utilise the more powerful electronics.

Personally, I liked the vintage 3-knob era Stingrays and to be honest, I thought the current product was not comparable to those in a negative way.

However, in considering this renewed Stingray Special, I have found that this thinking is wrong.

If you are looking for a Stingray in the same way, but only if it is vintage or classic, this is an ambitious product that you should try.

Very little fret wear.
The truss rod is in good working order and the neck is in good condition.
The condition of the body and paintwork is generally clean with no noticeable dents, although minor scratch marks can be seen.
The electrical system is in good condition.
No obvious modifications were found.
