Dry Bell is a Croatian effects brand launched in 2012.
They are widely known and appreciated for their high quality, especially in Europe and the United States.
We met them at Guitar Summit 2023 in Germany and were amazed by their beautiful UI and musically appealing sound, and immediately decided to carry them.
Module 4 is a versatile modern compressor inspired by the sound of the legendary Orange Squeezer compressor.
The Orange Squeezer can be connected directly to a guitar for a special sound.
The Orange Squeezer produces a special sound when connected directly to a guitar, especially when connected directly to the high-impedance signal of a passive PU.
Like the Orange Squeezer, this model produces a unique sound just by passing it through.
With beautifully colored overtones and very smooth compression, the sound seems to gain musical three-dimensionality.
And while it is basically a vintage-style sound, it can also be set to produce a wider-range modern sound (see below). (See below).
The controls are as follows
OUTPUT - Adjusts the output level.
TONE - Adjusts the treble. Flat position is 12:30.
BLEND - Balance between compression and dryness. Full compression is set to full.
ATTACK - Adjusts attack time. Full setting is the slowest.
RELEASE - Adjusts the release time. Slowest at full.
PREAMP - Input gain adjustment. Flat position is 12:30, used like a threshold.
There are several other functions that are explained below.
compression mode switching.
This model has the ability to switch between ORANGE mode and Full Frequency range mode.
To operate, press the ORANGE button briefly.
The ORANGE mode produces a fat, vintage-like sound, while the FFR mode produces a wide-range, modern operation like a typical compressor.
Please try inputting a passive high-impedance signal into the Module4 set to ORANGE mode.
You will experience why so many guitarists have fallen in love with that orange compressor.
...EXPANDER.
Press the footswitch for 2 seconds to turn on the EXPANDER to remove noise.
Switching the intensity of the EXPANDER function
Step on the orange button five times to switch the intensity of the EXPANDER function.
The LED will flash green three times for a stronger effect, and red twice for a more natural effect.
Switching between buffered bypass and true bypass
Pressing the orange button for 2 seconds toggles between the two bypass methods in sequence.
The green LED flashes three times when in true bypass, and the red LED flashes twice when in buffered bypass.
When set to buffered bypass and if the orange button is on, the unique frequency response will continue to be added to the sound even when the pedal is off.
Low Cut.
This function cuts the low frequency range for more detailed sound creation.
To operate, step on the footswitch five times.
When this function is turned on, the LED blinks green three times. When it is turned off, the LED flashes red twice.
Depending on how much compression is applied, the LED in the center changes from green to orange to red.
It is difficult to judge the effect by ear alone, but the fact that it is visually easy to understand is great.
The power supply can be 9V-18.1V.
