(Titles omitted)\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis bass is a prototype NYC Empire bass produced before 1993.\u003cbr\u003eThe headstock features only a handwritten-looking NYC logo.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eWe asked Vinny Fodera to review a photo of this bass, and he confirmed that this is likely one of the first NYC basses made by him and fellow founder Joey Lauricella.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAs such, we've listed the bass as being made in the USA.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eWhile we can't be certain, the specifications match many of the early models produced after 1993.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eSpecifically, it features a HAZ Lab preamp, a flat-head truss rod nut (rather than a cross), flared frets, a bolt-on joint with a plate, and other features such as the shape and knob position.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eBased on these features, we've determined that this is a NYC EMPIRE made before 1993.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe body is made of ash, with a maple neck and maple fingerboard, a classic wood construction.\u003cbr\u003eIt can essentially be said to be a tribute to late-'70s Fenders.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe bridge is made by Schaller.\u003cbr\u003eThis is also consistent with early models, but there are traces of screws underneath the bridge that appear to have been re-drilled.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003ePlease note that we cannot determine whether this is a later replacement or a design change.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe pickups are Bartolini.\u003cbr\u003eEarly models used Lane Poor pickups, so this may have also been replaced.
