Fender is the undisputed number one brand of electric guitars and basses.
Fender is loved by countless top artists such as Jaco Pastorious, Marcus Miller, and Geddy Lee.

The Jazz Bass was released as a higher-end model of the Precision Bass.
Its sharp and clear sound has been loved by many bassists, and even today it enjoys overwhelming support and a shining presence.

This model is a Fender Japan brand JB62, which was highly regarded but has disappeared.

It is said that Fender Japan has differences depending on the serial number, but this one is the relatively popular E serial number.

There were several types of JB62s in this era, but this one is probably a modified fretless version of JB62-60.

The fretless modification process has been done very well.
The quality is high, including the correction of the tang marks on the frets.

I think the nut has also been replaced along with this.

The tuners have been replaced with lightweight GOTOH/RES-O-LITE tuners.
I feel that the lighter tuners produce more overtones and emphasize the richness of the middle range. (Sorry, this is my personal impression.)

The sound is extended and sings pleasantly.
Perhaps due to the quality of the fretless processing, the shape of the fretboard top surface is very good, and this quality seems to be directly related to the high quality of the sound.

I would not feel comfortable modding a highly regarded period piece like the E serial with my own hands, but if it has already been done, it's a different story.
Fingerboard coating is also recommended to make it more authentic.
