Black Smoker is a handmade brand launched in 2016 by BLACK CLOUD, a workshop in Azumino City, Nagano Prefecture.
The instruments, crafted by two highly experienced builders, are supported by numerous professional musicians, including Shunsuke Ochi, Futoshi Sakai, and Ren Yamamoto.
This model is a 5-string OPB type from the high-end TRAD MASTER series.
The body is made of ash, and the fingerboard is maple.
This combination produces a solid low end and a sparkling high end.
All finishes are lacquer, and a beautiful aging process has been applied.
The sound and playability are characterized by a traditional texture with a distinctive midrange.
The pickups are original.
It has a rich low end, which is useful for positioning the bass in an ensemble.
Despite being a 5-string bass, the strong midrange punch on the E string is reminiscent of a 4-string bass, which is also appealing.
This 5-string OPB is a rare specification on the market, but in a way, it has fewer phase issues than a split-coil PB, making it a very viable option.
The bass itself is of excellent quality, and it's a perfect fit for those looking for a guitar that balances individuality and sound.
The frets have approximately 90% remaining.

The neck is in good condition.
The body and paintwork show feather checking, dents, scratches, and paint chipping, but due to the aged finish, it's impossible to determine if these are later-accidental damages. There is a discolored area of approximately 55.0mm on the back of the body.
